I have been so in love with nature since I was a kid. Becoming a biological scientist has been my career goal since then. This passion and endeavor brought me to the United States after I graduated from college. When I pursued my Master at UCLA Bioengineering, I was supervised by a great PI and mentors who were truly passionate about their research. They have greatly inspired me on my career path to computational biology since then. That was the first time I realized that research could be so much fun and impactful. And that is also when I learned I cannot sacrifice animals. In order to continue staying in this field and make contributions, I started self-learning coding, algorithms, and statistics. Years later, now I am a Ph.D. student at The Scripps Research Institute and my research is focused on computational genomics with deep learning approaches. My childhood passion remains with me. There’s certainly yet more to learn and yet more questions to solve, I am grateful for all of this.
