Although I studied a variety of subjects at Lochgilphead High School, it was Business Management that truly stood out to me. This is where I first discovered my passion for the people side of business and began considering HR Management as a future career.I secured my first job at fifteen with MacLeod Construction as an Admin Assistant, a summer position where I gained first-hand experience in business operations. After returning to school for my Fifth Year, I started working part-time in November 2021 as a cashier and waiter at the Taj Mahal, a local Indian restaurant. Working this job alongside my studies helped me develop strong time management and customer service skills.Soon after, I returned to MacLeod Construction for another summer in 2022, gaining further experience in administrative work - before going back to school for my final year. During sixth year, I served as Deputy Head Boy, supporting the school community by organizing and managing classroom volunteer groups and charity events, raising money for causes like MacMillan Cancer Support and Children In Need. For my contributions, I was honored with the Isobel Hamilton Memorial Award for Service to Lochgilphead High School. After leaving school in June 2023, I worked at both Londis of Inveraray and the Taj Mahal until I received the amazing news that my first-choice University, the University of Stirling, had offered me a place to study Human Resource Management.After leaving my jobs, family and friends, I moved to Stirling to begin my studies. Having spent my first 18 years of life in a small town, relocating to Stirling was a big change and a step outside my comfort zone. Although I didn’t work consistently during this time, as a student I was always looking for extra cash and engaged in market research roles. These roles allowed me to enhance my communication skills and gain valuable experience interacting with new people from diverse backgrounds.On completion of my First Year of University, I moved back to Lochgilphead for the summer of 2024 and continued building up my savings with Londis of Inveraray, where I further developed my customer service skills. During this summer, I also secured my first HR role as a Summer Student with Argyll & Bute Council, where I gained hands-on experience in various HR functions and deepened my understanding of the field. Now, I am back in Stirling for my second year of studies, looking forward to growing my knowledge in Human Resource Management.
