Fourth-year undergrad student, future high school educator. I am working to become a queer educator focused on equity, inclusion, and bringing my passion for science to students from all backgrounds. I am looking to expand my current experience in classroom and teaching settings to better develop my skills as I look forward to going on to grad school. As a senior studying Biology, Society, and the Environment and Gender, Women, and Sexuality studies at the University of Minnesota, I hope to complete my M. Ed. in Life Science Education here at UMN and teach high school biology.I currently work as a Course Section leader through the CLA Office of Student Experience. I mentor 18 first-year students, facilitate weekly in-person section meetings, and act as a resource as they navigate their first semesters in a new and challenging environment. I also serve on the Council for Liberal Education and am involved in the DirecTrack to Teaching program on campus. Additionally, I've been working in the food service industry for nearly 4 years, with 2 years of bartending experience, to support myself through college. My experience includes navigating busy overnight shifts and "pancake rushes" at Denny's, providing knowledge at an upscale whiskey lounge, serving and bartending at Buffalo Wild Wings on campus, and currently, bartending at Centro in Highland Park. I have excellent skills in customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork, all of which make me a great bartender and translate well to other work environments.
