After Excel 2007 was shipped in 2006, I joined Customer and Partner Engineering Services (CAPES) to lead Office Application Maintenance Development team. My team was responsible for resolving the issues customers had with Office applications, such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. From 2008 up to 2012, I led development of internal tools, such as OVirtual and oTransfer during Office 14, and the Integrated Release and Issue-tracking System (IRIS) in Office 15.After Office 15, I left CAPES to join World-wide Delivery team. I led development of Office Resource Fabric, a highly-scalable streamlined localization system tailored for agile development.

Office Sustaining Engineering: I spent my first two years at Microsoft in Office QFE (Quick Fix Engineering), fixing bugs in Word and MSO, and investigating bugs in Word, MSO, PowerPoint, and Excel. All those bugs were reported by real customers. I also did Office 2000 patching using Windows Installer technology.In Office 2003, I participated in Office BI (Business Intelligence) application development, focusing on build process, command handling, and data connection. Though Office BI was canceled after Milestone 3 because of the plan change, it well prepared us to implement inside Excel 2007 a better BI feature set. Also in Office 2003, I did security code review and fixed Watson crash bugs in Excel Data Access and Pivot Table areas.In Excel 2007 I worked on Sheet Data/Cube functions, Excel-formula-based data access to OLAP data. Sheet Data, which is tightly integrated with Excel recalc, can fetch data asynchronously, do query batching and data caching for performance, and allow users to author free-form reports.

 Visiting scholar in Spain for about one year: Worked in a university lab in Spain (NEW MICROSCOPIES LABORATORY, Departamento de Física de la Materia Condensada, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Madrid, Spain). Led a team to develop a Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) image processing program, which is now known as WSxM software (http://www.nanotec.es/about_us/index.php). Visiting manager in an accounting software company for eight months: Taught Java to their employees, wrote a generic editor that can be used for invoice input, and later managed the development team. Instructor in the university: Taught Measurements and Data Processing.
