I enjoy the challenge that comes with building large and complex things. I am currently focused on building Motive, (https://www.esgmotive.com/) to help corporate ESG and Sustainability leaders make informed decisions quickly and easily by bringing together comprehensive interactive data, powerful analytics, expert insights, and curated news in a user-friendly and customizable SaaS platform. Before that, I focused on large infrastructure but have done everything from building an ISP (👍) to owning and operating a bookstore & newsstand (👎). I have been blessed to work in-and-around start-ups my entire professional career and have had an unfair number of great people help me along the way. I will never be able to repay all those that have been there for me but I am committed to helping others just as I was helped. I was actively engaged in raising more than $77 million in venture capital from a group of top-tier firms, including Kleiner Perkins, GV, Floodgate, Elevation Partners, and Western Digital Capital, culminating in the sale of the company to Western Digital in the fall of 2017. As part of the sale to Western Digital, I help to lead the integration of Upthere into Western Digital’s multi-billion-dollar Content Solutions business unit. My role at Upthere was broad and allowed me to contribute wherever the company needed me, which is what I did. My focus was, and still is, on recruiting and retaining that are both technically excellent and also fundamentally good people to be around.
