I am currently President of Sutton Abinger, a consulting firm based in San Diego that guides client implementations of mobile, payment and retail technologies. I previously served as Chief Architect and Chief Security Officer at Softcard, leaving in February 2014. Before it was acquired by Google, Softcard was a joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile USA, and Verizon Wireless that leveraged Near Field Communications to deliver contactless payments on mobile phones. I began at Softcard as the Product & Technology Development Leader, where I built the team that was responsible for developing the core technologies that were implemented for mobile devices and contactless readers, the product platforms for the services that Softcard offered to its customers, and the supporting technologies that formed the core infrastructure. Prior to Softcard, I was a Principal Consultant at Constratus, with Verizon Wireless as a primary client. From 2004 to 2009, I led the development of several 3G consumer data products for Verizon Wireless, including V CAST Music. I have a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with an emphasis on computer operating systems.
