I previously served as Chief Architect and Chief Security Officer at Softcard, leaving in February 2014. Before it was acquired by Google, Softcard was a joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile USA, and Verizon Wireless that leveraged Near Field Communications to deliver contactless payments on mobile phones.

I began at Softcard as the Product & Technology Development Leader, where I built the team that was responsible for developing the core technologies that were implemented for mobile devices and contactless readers, the product platforms for the services that Softcard offered to its customers, and the supporting technologies that formed the core.

Led design, specification, implementation and deployment of V CAST Music: ground-breaking technology with the first implementations of WMA Pro, Janus DRM and MTP on BREW handsets; proven user adoption with millions of active users and multi-million purchases per year.Led accelerated 10-week deployment of ESPN MVP, coordinating operator and content provider.

Lead strategic consulting engagements by developing new business through senior-level contacts in industry and government, including Vodafone, the City of London, the Scottish Executive, and T-Mobile.Analyzed business requirements to produce deliverable solutions, written specifications, tender documents and bid proposals. Developed enterprise solution.

Developed product strategy, market strategy, and bid process in new markets for wireless networks, mobile devices, payment systems, authentication, authorization, and identity management. Negotiated and managed strategic contracts to jointly develop, market, and sell security solutions.Identified potential early adopters and led sales and services efforts.

Launched a monthly publication in Madison, and expanded to Milwaukee. Managed and coordinated a team of 15 salespeople, distribution drivers, and freelance writers and artists. Hired, trained, and supervised employees in sales, production and editorial.Drafted contracts and negotiated business deals. Managed P&L, accounting, budgeting, payroll, taxes.

Developed software as an independent contractor. Projects included file compression software for Apple Computer's AppleLink service, and real-time GPS/GIS image capture for Mandli Communications.
