The Marketing Events team at Hudl coordinates our company's involvement in industry events around the world and hosts educational events for customers across all sports.As the manager of this team at Hudl, I oversee three full-time team members and one intern across the U.S. and Europe. What I love most about this role is having the opportunity to coach and develop my team members while working closely alongside each of them on various events and projects. Another highlight of this role is being able to create and implement new processes for the team and build high-level strategies for how we approach all of our events.

In this role, I had the opportunity to create memorable experiences for future and current Hudl customers at events such as national coaching conventions, clinics, educational workshops, and online events. I gained experience developing marketing and promotional strategies for industry events including pre-event promotion, attendee engagement tactics, and post-event communications. This role also involved heavy logistical coordination, budgeting, partnership contract negotiations, and relationship management with external vendors and company partners.One of my favorite experiences in this role was helping coordinate the Breakthrough Summit, a digital leadership summit for women in sports. This event taught me skills in live event production, hospitality with high-profile guest speakers, set design, and brand awareness.

The Learning Communities Program allows students who have a common field of interest to live together within the residence halls, take courses together, and attend educational and social programs that are held by their peer mentors and sponsors. As a coordinator, I oversaw 8 individual communities which involved working closely with faculty/staff sponsors as well as student staff to plan events and support students within each learning community. I also oversaw the coordination of all large-scale programming for this department such as the Learning Communities Welcome Event at the beginning of the school year, the Study Challenge competition for students, and the 3-day LC Big Trip to Chicago.

As a Marketing Advisor for Rentping, I managed a portfolio of ten clients independently and served as the Associate Marketing Advisor for the company’s three largest clients. Managing clients involved making updates to websites as needed, adjusting and monitoring all Google AdWords accounts, and having regular discussions about online traffic needs. One of my favorite aspects of this position was holding virtual trainings with clients for Rentping’s software platform as it allowed me to get to know every client on a personal level and discover their marketing needs and challenges over the phone. Within my team, I collaborated heavily with the other Marketing Advisors regarding associate accounts and long-term projects and overall enjoyed the team-based work environment. We regularly discussed and reflected on ways to improve customer service and streamline processes as the company to deliver the best product and assistance that we could. Finally, this position provided me with an in-depth knowledge of Google AdWords, Analytics, and Search as well as digital marketing strategies.

As a Student Strengths Coach, I had the amazing opportunity to develop high proficiency in all 34 Gallup Strengths as well as the Gallup Purdue Index. Throughout the eight week course for first year students, I held 2 coaching sessions with 10 individual students which involved digging into their top five Gallup Strengths and focusing on utilizing those strengths to succeed in college and in a future career. Also for the course, I assisted facilitating weekly “Team Meetings” with 2 other coaches, teaching concepts relating to strengths and student success. Finally, I participated in coach meetings, focusing on the development of my own strengths and how to use them as a coach.

I had the privilege to plan and coordinate the 2016 Big Red Welcome Street Festival for over 12,000 students and guests for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This involved regularly communicating important festival information to over 300 local businesses, student organizations, and university departments involved and overseeing the execution of the event that day. For this role, I also assisted with the Orientation Leader training process and served as the advisor for the "Parent Session Campus Life", a group of 5 Orientation Leaders who presented to parents during summer orientation. Another responsibility I had was to organize and implement the “Take a Parent to Lunch” program during the summer which involved coordinating faculty and staff participants hosting parents over the lunch hour.

I planned and facilitated monthly trainings for the group of 50 peer mentors and supervised mentors during weekly scholarship events as well as the Study Café. I also held monthly mentor meetings with 8 students, providing support and ensuring they are meeting all scholarship requirements. The most rewarding part of this position was assisting staff with planning scholarship events throughout the academic year. This involved contacting guest speakers to present, coming up with engaging activities, and advertising the event to the community.

As the intern for the Recruitment department, I managed the recruitment events calendar and oversaw all scheduling for the student ambassadors regarding weekly events and campus visits. I had the opportunity to create activities and games for prospective students to enjoy during the College of Arts & Sciences recruitment events held throughout the year. Finally, I created and facilitated the first “Ambassador Workshop” for the group of 50 student ambassadors which focused on developing public speaking skills and ways to communicate information effectively to prospective families.

Being an Orientation Leader was the most impactful experience of my college career. First, I had the opportunity to work on a team with 7 other Orientation Leaders to create and present a daily skit to incoming students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This experienced improved my public speaking skills and challenged me to work very closely with a diverse team. Each day of orientation, I also independently presented a campus tour to both parents and students, which taught me how to accommodate the needs of a large group and handle challenging questions on the spot. I also facilitated group discussions and activities for international students at 3 Global Leadership Retreats and learned how to break down language and cultural barriers while welcoming these new international students to the United States.
