University of Minnesota- Masonic Children's Hospital• Treated patients ranging from 5 days to 22 years old with complex medical and developmental needs in the cardiovascular intensive care, pediatric intensive care, oncology, BMT, and medical/surgical units.• Completed evaluation, treatment, safe discharge planning, and documentation for 7-8 patients daily.• Educated patients and caregivers on development, surgical precautions, and home programming.• Researched the effects of media use on child development, specifically for hospitalized children.

Served as the project assistant for the research study, Video Game and Brain Imaging Study, designed to develop motivating ways to alleviate motor challenges in ASD, as well as better understand neuroplasticity in ASD. Served as the Project Assistant for the research study, Computational Predictors of Learning and Neurobiology in Autism Spectrum Disorder. This project was conducted under the collaboration of Ari Rosenberg, PhD, UW School of Medicine & Public Health and Brittany Travers, PhD, UW School of Education. The long term aim of our study is find ways to identify and assess individual learning profiles that could be used to determine personalized educational plans to accelerate learning for individuals with ASD. As project assistant, my duties included assisting with IRB applications, design and implementation of the study, scheduling and leading 30 children and adolescents through the 10-session training sequence including MRI scans, performing standardized assessments, managing study finances and payment, training lab members on advanced technological protocols, and facilitating lab organization and communication.https://motor.waisman.wisc.edu/

Advanced students’ social, cognitive, and motor development through a range of interactive and educational activities. Observed how learning abilities differ on an individual basis, and identified ways information can be presented in multiple styles to enhance students’ learning abilities. Motivated students to learn through unique and fun individualized strategies.

Worked as a Direct Service Provider for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges and childhood mental health challenges. The IDS treatment approach used a developmental, naturalistic and play-based approach, with principles from applied behavior analysis (ABA). By working one-on-one with my clients, I helped them reach their development goals in regulation, relationships, communication, learning and daily living skills.

Participated in various service projects throughout Asia and Africa on Semester at Sea, including volunteering at Thien Phuoc Home for individuals with developmental disorders. Also served as the leader of the Students of Service Club and helped lead the Global Grins Committee/Initiative. In this position, I encouraged members on the ship to become involved with Global Grins and helped implement the project, distributing 30,000 toothbrushes to individuals in multiple countries.
