I joined the British Army within two months of leaving school where I initially entered as an apprentice Junior Leader where I spent over 2 years in basic training, learning leadership, teamwork and practical thinking in the midst of intense environments, followed by Military Engineering and artisan trade training.I received my first promotion to the rank of L/Cpl at the age of 21 by which time I had served in Saudi Arabia, Northern Ireland, Kuwait and Oman prior to the start of the Gulf War II where I then saw active service in both Kuwait and Iraq.My key learnings taken from my time in HM Forces was the importance of empowering and authentic leadership, by at all times enabling and encouraging others to live their best life possible and always play to their strengths.
