Early on in my career, I told a potential employer that I had a "passion for administration". Even today, it still sounds like a dorky statement, but I didn't lie; it was completely true at the time. Oddly enough they decided to hire me despite my dorkiness; or perhaps because of it. But the dork they saw in that interview, was only a small glimpse into the total nerd/geek that I truly am.This is likely the reason why being in the finance and accounting field fits me so well. My dorky, nerdy, geeky, and sometimes socially awkward self is able to hide in the background and support the front-line heroes like a Bard who sings terribly in D&D. With Microsoft Excel as my instrument, I'm able to ensure the financial stability needed to conquer each campaign my team runs through. I am their mascot they hate to love. My arsenal of musical spells is simply comprised of various budgetary control, financial oversight - and yes, even administrative - tools. It just goes to show that at my core, I'm a nerdy geek. Or geeky nerd. Take your pick. And yes, I am aware of the difference between the two (proving my point). I just manage to fluctuate between them very fluidly and I'm not fussy about it. Hey, it's a new century - being nerdy/geeky is cool nowadays, right?
