Joined as employee #3 after serving as outside counsel for a year-ish during the back of the napkin days. Helped the company navigate launching the first MVP (and every version after), the covid-19 pandemic, the economic downturn that followed, hyper-growth and scaling, a bank collapse, and several rounds of funding (~$40M pre-seed through Series B). Authored the virtues. Drafted the company manifesto. Designed the operating philosophies. Handled all employee relations and people operations. Served as the voice of the company and fostered the early culture. Played a not-so-little part in a ton of other pivotal moments that were not glamorous and likely won't be remembered. Earned a reputation, and the respect from employees, for being a kind and brave leader who cared greatly for the mission, the team, and the business. Grateful for the chapters written and the experience gained. Proud of my decision to walk away from it all at the height of "success" to pursue something new.

Supported early stage startups to public companies. Advised some cool and not so cool employers on a wide range of L&E matters including leave management, FMLA and ADA administration, pay equity, hiring and firing, drafting policies that don't suck, conducting trainings to prevent management from doing/saying the wrong thing, defending management when they did/said the wrong thing. Learned a lot about the law and law firm life. Left to combine forces with my former client.

Led the Labor and Employment group of a regional mid-sized boutique law firm. Acquired by Michael Best, an Am Law 200 national firm. Hired as part of the post M&A cohort. Stayed on with the successor long enough to learn I had been there long enough. Went back into startup land.

Acquired by GiveCampus. You never forget your first and CF was my first venture into the startup world. What a ride it was. Served on the company's executive leadership team. Managed all day to day operations with a big emphasis on the People and Legal functions. Accountable for the end to end employee experience. Worked closely with the CEO and Board of Directors. Served as the company's Corporate Secretary. Drafted Board minutes, shareholder updates, and internal and external comms. Collaborated with Sales and Marketing to get any and all the deals done. Worked with Customer Success to make sure our customers were super fans. Supervised our outsourced CFO & accounting team. Wore many hats. Developed strategy from 30k feet and worked in the trenches...usually in the same day and always with an eye on how we would win together.

Worked as a "litigation support attorney" which is a really nice way of saying I was paid hourly to comb through documents, find needles in haystacks, prepare opinions that probably never got read, scarf down daily catered lunches in < 30 mins, pretend like I was part of the firm who hired me through RH even though I received 1/3 of the pay and 0 benefits. Paid the bills. Drained the soul.

First job out of law school. Had a short stint in traffic court then got sent to the Drug Unit where I was charged with making charges against people who allegedly trafficked drugs. Found out I didn't really like being a litigator and more importantly I wasn't that good at it. Oh, and also, I def didn't like how drug crimes are prosecuted in this country. Hoping someone brave takes that reform on someday.
