I began my career setting up sensor networks in retirement homes, we used Windows laptops with MySQL installed to collect the data; which was then sent nightly to our data store. There was a lot of physical hardware tinkering and I got to learn a lot about data storage. Since then, all of my roles have had one commonality, a major focus on enabling others to do their best work. I have always felt that enabling others has a wonderful multiplier effect.

Technical Learning SpecialistNew Relic, Inc. Apr 2017 - Jun 2017San Francisco, Ca, UsDuring my time as a Technical Learning Specialist I focused on two projects; Support Onboarding Revisions and Internal Consulting for the various Support teams. The main goals of the project was to provide new hires with a sense of autonomy and decrease the number of hours trainers spent in the classroom. After the revisions, we estimated Trainers would be able to recover up to 15% of their time per quarter. This was accomplished by moving instructor-led trainings to on-demand video replays. New hires were given a better sense of autonomy with more self-paced activities and a new Support Onboarding portal on the internal wiki. For the Internal Consulting project I was able to mentor Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in Support. During the mentorship I provided guidance on how to create effective trainings, this included; how to use a design document, identifying the audience, selecting the right delivery mechanism, and helping learners retain knowledge. -
