The desire to help parents, children, animals and our environment during the pandemic motivated me to create an enriching curriculum filled with games, sports and environmental education activities. I created an intern program to educate adolescents about the environment and help me run the organization. Finally, to further enhance the ideas taught to the children about wildlife preservation, the profits of the camp are donated to the World Wildlife Fund.

I have been an active part of Girl Scouts since first grade. I have been a mentor to younger girls by overseeing their projects that I have completed, leading training and overseeing events. I have completed my Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. I am currently a mentor to younger girls for Gold Award projects as a Girl Scout Space Lead.

This is a club that takes place every Monday at our school during lunch. Given that many high schoolers face mental health issues this club acts as a space to destress from school. It also partners with institutes to host various events to promote mental health. As the Vice President of the club, I prepare for the meetings, collect supplies and research activities and events. I have learned that those with forms of depression need a stable induvidual to feel safe. So, I work to create the most safe and encouraging space for those who need time to destress and work hard to ensure everyone’s voices are heard.

This organization educates the public about the baylands. The organization hosts open hours where the public can come to ask questions and see the replicas of the flora and fauna residing there. They also have crafts and hikes that they host. As a teen docent I would describe the types of replicas, talk about the wildlife preservation methods and promote other events during the open hours. The special events would be targeted towards youth and teaching them about the Baylands. I learned a lot about educating different audiences, as the content you teach adults is different from kids.

Since many professors teach classes when their children are done with school, this organization will take the kids from school to a classroom. The organization has activities and teachers who teach the kids different subjects like computer coding. I am a volunteer that would come after my last class and play with the kids for at least an hour 3-5 times a week. My previous internships gave me fun activities which made me a figure the kids looked up to. Overall, this experience formed bonds, taught me patience when educating them and the best ways to entertain kids in a fun manner.
