About Kaitlin Raven
Currently, I am concluding a 3 month seasonal position with the Student Conservation Association supporting 3 field crews serving out of Bear Brook SP with the SCA New Hampshire Conservation Corps program. I provided field support for technical trail projects including but native timber structures, rock work, chainsaw felling, and carpentry. Additionally, I have provided mentorship, training, tool maintenance, cache management, social media management, and logistics and admin support. As a Field Coordinator at Montana Conservation Corps, I specialized in chainsaw and crosscut instruction, leadership development, conflict resolution, group management, and logistics. I earned multiple certifications including becoming a Chainsaw/Crosscut Evaluator. 2022-2024, I was the direct supervisor for the Women's Fuels and Fire Program, a unique initiative that provides training and opportunities for women+ in wildland fire management. I worked with Yellowstone NP and Grand Teton NP to host and support crews; ensuring their safety, productivity, and learning outcomes. I planned training schedules, orientations, recruitment, and hiring. I was also responsible for executing these including USDA Developing thinking sawyer chainsaw curriculum and evaluated participants up to the A faller B bucker level. I helped support these crews housing initiatives and remote living settings which pose unique challenges. These duties were outside the typical roles and responsibilities but my passion for getting folks connected to wildland fire and chainsaw work drove me to go above and beyond to support their success. In addition, I took on other roles outside the typical duties including: developing standardized curriculum to industry standards for crosscut, chainsaw, tool maintenance, and trails and assisted with forestry and wildland restoration, including staff, leader, and member lessons, facilitator guides, and additional resources; helped stand up MCC's stand alone saw program; developed onboarding and training material for Field coordinators including: an FC guide, purchasing guide, supplies guide, FC workflow, Train the trainer events, and evaluated staff up to the C bucker level. Last of all, I assisted with outreach including hosting a Women in Fire panel in 2022 and 2023.I am eager to contribute to the mission and vision of your organization, and to bring my skills, experiences, and perspectives to your team. Please reach out with any interest in bringing my training and field skills to your team whether its for a day, a week, or a permanent role.
