I hold a Masters degree in Public Health from Michigan State University, where I focused on International Health, Women's Health, and Reproductive Health. I was able to gain experience working in these areas when I traveled to Ghana where I participated in a research study abroad project examining the risk factors for unwanted teenage pregnancy. During that experience I further developed my research skills by conducting surveys and focus groups and analyzing data relating to sexual activity in teenage girls. This experience further added to my public speaking skills gained as a Sexual Health Peer Educator. I pull from all these past experiences in my current role as a research associate. In this position I am part of the team that evaluates different sex education and healthy relationship programs that are implemented across the state of Michigan. Within this role I design evaluation plans, implement evaluation tools including surveys, key informant interviews, and focus groups. I use both qualitative and quantitative data analysis to speak to program outcomes, challenges, and successes. I also have experience with public health at the local government level which I gained as an intern for the Ingham County Health Department.
