About Kaitlyn Maher
Hailing from two seemingly divergent worlds, my interests lie at the intersection of the arts and policy spheres. I’m a creative at heart. Growing up in the entertainment industry, I’ve spent over a decade on the sets of major studios (including Disney, FOX, and PBS), headlined at the White House and internationally, and released professionally recorded music (most recently, a self-written album in Nov. 2023). As an artist, I possess a distinctive firsthand understanding of the music and entertainment business, from production and digital distribution to artist management and promotion. My experiences engaging with managers and agents, collaborating with A-list actors, directors, and composers, and building my own audience have honed my media, marketing, and communications expertise—an asset to virtually every industry.Simultaneously, I am a deeply impact-driven person passionate about the policy space. During internships at both the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan and the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan, I supported U.S. foreign policy goals through political and cultural diplomacy initiatives, analytical memo writing, and social media content curation. As a Congressional intern, I immersed myself in domestic policy, contributing to pressing legislation and addressing issues surrounding constituent affairs. Most recently, as a summer Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company, I gained private sector insights while serving the federal healthcare space, pairing problem-solving skills with technical expertise and engaging impactfully with colleagues and government clients. Currently a junior at Duke University, I am actively fusing my interests and refining my skillset through pursuing a major in Public Policy, minors in Visual/Media Studies and Theatre, and coursework spanning economics, statistics, ethics, and more. On the side, you’ll find me trying to teach myself how to beatbox, cheering on Duke sports, or obsessing over Animal Planet.
Listed skills include Teaching, Leadership, Debate, Community Service, and 5 others.
