Kaitlyn Elyse Willow is a multifaceted designer and artist who found her true passion in chainstitch embroidery. Although she’s had the entrepreneurial spirit since…probably birth…her journey really began right out of college with her first job in the events industry, designing and marketing events for USAToday which led her into retail sustainability tech, giving her valuable insights into retail, event production and consumer preferences.During the pandemic, Kait stumbled upon chainstitch embroidery as a hobby after seeing designers she respected online create mesmerizing embroidery art with rare and manually controlled embroidery machines. Little did she know when she purchased her first machine—a Consew 104-1T—it would become her true calling. Combining her graphic design skills and love for hands-on tinkering, chainstitching became the perfect outlet for her creativity, and through the years she has discovered that she loves doing live embroidery events, known around town as the Stitch Bitch. After nearly two years of balancing both her 9-to-5 job and her embroidery obsession that was slowly taking over her mind and schedule, she took a leap of faith and left her stable corporate job to pursue her newfound passion and innovative event offering. As a queer small business owner, she embraces her authentic self and creates interactive experiences for others to express themselves and create lasting memories. Her studio and live event offerings reflect her dedication to creativity, inclusivity, and fun.Working out of her home studio in Chattanooga, TN, Kait is a loving pet parent to two cats—Olive and Ash. She is so lucky to be with her sweet bird-watching partner, Laur, who shares her love for perfecting their at-home espresso. If you ever see Kait out and about, ask her to show you all the mid-century furniture tattoos she’s collecting or the latest podcast she’s obsessed with.
