PTAC Procurement Counselor: In this role, I am fortunate for the opportunity to assist businesses in southwest Michigan work toward their government contracting goals. This is a service pre-paid by your tax dollars due to funding from the federal and state government. Each PTAC office also has a local host; in our case that is that is W.E. Upjohn Institute. We assist small business with government contracting and subcontracting, large businesses seeking to refer inexperienced contractors or to provide them with lists of qualified subcontractors, and government agencies seeking a wide variety of contractors to meet set-aside goals. We provide classes, one-on-one meetings, and networking opportunities. Occasionally a speaker or training will be provided that has a cost, but the primary services such as bid matching, counseling, and standard training are provided without a charge. Technical Writer: I have 15 plus years experience as a technical writer. Previous to and during that time, I have held several administrative assistant roles. I enjoy organizing and creating documentation. This includes continuing with processes and procedures that have held true over time as well as incorporating new methodology and techniques. I am your go to person for documenting procedures and keeping data organized and easy to access. Some of the skills I have learned along the way are as follows:• Collaborate on standards for documentation of software programs• Create and maintain on-line help for multiple software programs with concise instructions• Design detailed spreadsheets and organizational tools • Develop online help including creating the index, table of contents, and keywords• Establish detailed instructions for departmental procedures and to train new employees • Maintain intranet as needed for company events and general information• Translate technical jargon into easily comprehended language
