Missouri Scholars Academy is a 3 week long Academy for the top gifted students around the state. I participated in this as a rising junior in high school back in 2018, and wanted to return as an RA to help recreate the transformative experience. The Resident Assistant position is a "camp counselor" of sorts where I was responsible for a group of about 20 students and facilitated/guided them through the 3-week experience. Students take a major and minor class where they will spend the next 3-weeks studying engaging and non-traditional classes they would see in their high schools. MSA is about making learning exciting and fun again. I met with my group of scholars every single day. This helped me develop a strong sense of emotional intelligence, as well as left me with strong managerial skills tending to 20+ scholars daily.
