Assist in larger projects as they come up. Assist guests by answering general questions about the park, campground, or trails. Open and close the booth on designated days: Great guests, answer questions about the park, operate the register system to sell day and annual parking passes, boat moorage pass, off season senior pass, firewood etc.

Serve a service year (1200 hours) in the Park Operations Career Track Program at First Landing State Park, offered through AmeriCorps with the Virginia Service and Conservation Corps. Shadow different supervisors (office manager, special events coordinator, assistant manager of operations) to see how their roles affect the park. Work in the contact ranger department of the park making camping reservations through the reserveamerica site, be knowledgeable on the park as to what it offers to better answer guests questions, utilize the BMWeb register system to sell parking passes and annual passes. Work in the maintenance department of the park operating lawn tools to maintain the appearance of the park, clean the bath houses and cabins, operate a lever system to remove old posts, under supervision operate a chainsaw to remove fallen trees. Work with the resource management department of the park to help monitor a threatened species of turtle that lives in the park.
