My Master's research at Ohio State was partially funded by Ohio Department of Natural Resources- Division of Wildlife administered through the Ohio Biodiversity Conservation Partnership, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.I created habitat models for several focal species of birds that live in a gradient of forest successional stages. I conducted avian point count surveys and vegetation surveys on state forestlands in Southeast Ohio during the breeding bird season in 2015 and 2016. I co-hired and co-supervised six field technicians and planned a substantial field season. I extensively used ArcGIS and GPS units for navigation and analysis of data.

My Master's research was partially funded through a Teaching Associate position within The School of Environment and Natural Resources. I was the sole T.A. for Forest Management during the spring semester in 2015, and Introduction to Forestry, Fisheries, and Wildlife in the spring of 2016. I handled attendance, grading homework and exams, and also held office hours for both classes assisting students with questions and concerns. Forest Management had a heavy mathematical component for harvest regulation, and Introduction to Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife had over 100 first and second year undergraduates.

Fire Island National Seashore

I was hired through the Student Conservation Association and Americorps to serve as an intern with The National Park Service at Fire Island National Seashore. Fire Island is a barrier island that aligns with the southern shore of Long Island, New York. I had the responsibility of monitoring threatened and endangered plants and animals including the Piping Plover, Tern species, Seabeach Amaranth, and Seabeach Knotweed. I had additional duties and opportunities including White-tailed Deer distance-sampling, horseshoe crab monitoring, and other seabird surveys. I utilized GPS units and created maps in ArcGIS for end-use and survey efforts.

Adirondack Interpretive Center

I managed daily operations at the Adirondack Interpretive Center, located on the Newcomb campus of SUNY-ESF in the heart of the Adirondack mountains. I marketed for events and developed and taught nature based educational programs. I became adept in outreach within the community and with visitors from all over the United States and Canada. I participated in Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Project Feeder Watch and maintained a current knowledge of Adirondack flora and fauna.

Adirondack Ecological Center

I was hired by the AEC to serve as the The Richard W. Sage Jr. Apprentice for the summer of 2012. The Apprenticeship was "established by the family of Dick Sage in an effort to continue to enrich the educational experience of ESF students at the AEC. Dick was a forest ecologist at Huntington Wildlife Forest for 38 years." I am forever grateful for the legacy of this man. The AEC is a component of the Huntington Wildlife Forest on SUNY-ESF's Newcomb campus in the heart of the Adirondack mountains. Here I supervised seven undergraduate students as we took on various monitoring projects throughout the 15,000 acres of forestland and freshwater lakes.The center also partners with organizations such as the Biodiversity Research Institute and the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program to track changes in the environment on a larger scale. I reported findings from Common Loon surveys and freshwater invasive species surveys to those organizations.

Office Of Development

I assisted development staff with compiling mailings for fund-raising efforts, answered phones and interacted with donors, queried databases for constituents, and assisted with events.
