As Director of Communications, I relay the stories of community-building, comprehensive support and societal advancement that are facilitated by the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County and its partner agencies. Under my business, Kaliah Communications, Inc., I worked as a part-time communications vendor for FPL/NextEra Energy, Inc. My responsibilities included editorial development/project management of the company's monthly employee newsletter (audience: 16,000+) and FPL's printed and electronic customer newsletters. I also assisted with annual communication campaigns for Corporate Operational Excellence. The work was varied and interesting, and the people are the company's greatest asset.

Learned the world of HR in a hands-on role during "peak" season, assisting supervisors and managers with presentations, orientations, interview process and paperwork processing for driver helpers in Deerfield Beach and Riviera Beach UPS facilities. During "peak" season, UPS can hire between 300-400 new people to assist through the holidays. I had a great time; sorry it ended so quickly!

Managed Network News system magazine (editor in chief), assisted with national and regional PR campaigns, oversaw production of internal communications, assisted with regional and national conventions and meetings, worked with PR agency in pitching Arby's news to business and trade publications.

Working with great people and clients, I managed up to 17 quarterly and monthly newsletter programs, providing editorial content and articles, working with graphic designers and pressmen and coordinating deliveries with traffic managers. My clients included cable companies, travel services, banks, credit unions and retail outlets. It was a wonderful transition from the newsroom to corporate that taught me the logistics of creating marketing materials for several industries.

I began my career with The Palm Beach Post on its Business Desk, writing for the Monday business tabloid, Business Day One. My primary responsibility was writing and editing the business briefs, profiles and calendar items, but on several occasions, I filled in on different beats while reporters were on vacation. After two years, I became a metro/general assignment reporter in South County and began covering the city of Boca Raton as a beat. My largest assignment was an investigative piece on the funding of Mizner Park.
