• Developed and implemented a novel method to reduce the vibration of the drive system of a radio telescope to within acceptable limits. I designed a test rig to trial researched solutions that would allow for the balancing of a coupled, flexible rotor. I also developed methods of handing and analysing the vibration data over time. This increased reliability of the telescope and allowed for more observation time.• Responsible for stress analysis, utilising both theoretical calculations and simulations to maximise reliability and minimise cost.• Responsible for full cycle product development from extracting client requirements all the way to delivering the product to the end user, including testing and in-service support.• Involved with the training and resource management of graduate students.

• One of five mechanical engineers countrywide involved in the design review of ventilators during the 2020 COVID crisis as part of the National Ventilator Project.• Responsible for the design and installation of a novel device that would allow for the accurate alignment of the subreflector and main reflector of a 32m radio telescope.• Responsible for conceptualising mechanical solutions based on higher level system inputs.

• Responsible for the manufacture and design of components of a small-scale solar tracker on a volunteer basis. The solar tracker reflected sun rays onto a receiver which heated the working fluid for use in a solar-thermal Brayton cycle. This could be used to power a micro-turbine generator.

Wing design and construction for KR2 aircraft.

• Involved with the condition monitoring of heavy mining equipment. Performed predictive maintenance using tribology to detect metal particles in the gearboxes of various mining vehicles.• Observing Root Cause Failure Analyses.• Maintenance and manufacturing of mining equipment by cutting, welding, bending and cropping.
