As a Back-End Developer Consultant at Kazboo, I am responsible for analyzing, documenting, and optimizing an existing .NET C# web API codebase over the next three months. The project involves working with a codebase that lacks any prior documentation including code comments. Big parts of the system are pre-compiled modules. To effectively manage this task, I am utilizing tools such as ILSpy for decompilation, Doxygen and Graphviz for documentation, and StyleCop for static code analysis.My role demands strong analytical skills to reverse engineer the code, identify dependencies, detect code smells, and assess potential risks. As the sole developer on this project, I am tasked with independently planning, studying, and refining the codebase to ensure its stability and maintainability.Additionally, I am leading the effort to migrate the existing Kazboo system to newer versions of .NET. This involves comprehensive research to understand the migration path, crafting a detailed pre-migration plan, and executing it. I am responsible for identifying and addressing breaking changes in newer versions, ensuring painless code refactoring, and identifying dependencies that may not be compatible with the newer versions. By managing every aspect of this migration process, I ensure a smooth transition to a more updated and stable .NET environment.
