Like most Indians of my generation, I grew up under the influence of the western education system and its attitudes towards life. Academically inclined, I graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from the N.I.T, Rourkela, post-graduated in business management from S.P.J.I.M.R, Mumbai, and had a “well-settled” career in the BFSI industry. But I am essentially a restless soul. With a million dreams in my mind’s eyes, and my feet refusing to stay on the ground, I meandered through life’s mundaneness with a thousand questions in my heart. Until one day, I realized two things. One, I am a seeker. And two, I belong to a land which pioneered the art and science of seeking. That’s when I fell in love with Bharat. Rediscovering Bharat is simply a reflection of my personal journey into getting to know myself and my Bharat, with a wish and a desire that you start your own journey too.What is Rediscovering Bharat?Rediscovering Bharat aspires to connects Indians with the essence and glory of ancient Bharat!Why Rediscovering Bharat?Though there is a huge warehouse of scholarly content on Bharat already available on the Indic cloud, with many scholars and researchers devoting their lives to understanding Bharat, the common man (lay Indian) is still disconnected with the idea of Bharat. This is primarily because the content is too scholarly for them, the presentation is not user-friendly, and truth be told – understanding Bharat is NOT that easy!Rediscovering Bharat wants to bridge this gap. It attempts to distil the scholarly content available for the “classes”, into easily digestible capsules for the “masses.”What big questions is Rediscovering Bharat trying to answer?1. Can we make Ramayana & Mahabharata board games for families to play on weekends?2. Can we make Lego-like assembling blocks to show case the intricate temple architecture of the Brihadeeshwara Temple?3. Can we create a colouring book for nursery kids on Kathopanishad?4. Can we create Amar-Chitra-Katha-like story books of the works of Swami Vivekananda?5. How can we bring the Rg Veda from some corner of a library into the living room of a family in Tripura? In Chandamana style!6. How can we make a kid with an iPad, on a 2-hour flight, glue on to the Garuda Purana with saucer-eyed intensity?7. Can we take the animated version of Vaisesika Darshana into the classroom of a government school in Nasik? In Marathi?8. Can we make NFTs of the exquisite Shilpa Kala in the Konark Temple?The essential question is – how do we connect Indians with Bharat?
