Heading the power business of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd having 3400 MW of IPP and 1650 MW of CPP capacity.

Responsible for Power Sales, regulatory affairs , plant operation co-ordination & EBIDTA maximization of 3400 MW IPP of Jindal Power Ltd

Responsible for Power Sales and regulatory affairs and operation co-ordination work for 3400 MW IPP at Tamnar, Dist Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The plant comprise of 4 units of 250 MW and 4 units of 600 MW.

Advising overseas investors on technical evaluation and commercial viability of stressed power assets in India

Advising on all Contractual, Power Sales, Regulatory Affairs & plant optimal operation matters for maximization of profit of 5150 MW Power Plant.

Operation & Maintenance, Fuel procurement , Power sales, Regulatory affairs, Strategy, Procurement of spare parts & consumables, P&L responsibility of 4X600 MW + 4X250 MW Independent Power Plant and 1650 MW Captive Power plants of JSPL. Developed a system for optimal operation of units based on real time frequency and UI rates which improved the profitability of the Company by more than Rs 32 Crs.

Construction of 2X270 MW thermal power project at Goindwal Sahib in the state of Punjab and associated captive coal mine at Tokisud in the State of Jharkhand with railway sidings at project end and mine end.

Statutory clearances and Pre- construction activities of 2X300 MW Thermal power project in the state of Maharashtra.

Profit center head for Operation & Maintenance of 7905 MW of coal based and 3656 MW of gas based combined cycle power plants and Construction of 2X490 MW, 2X500 MW and 2X660 MW thermal power stations, Fuel management, Power sales & regulatory affairs, Customer relationship, Strategy and Team building. Improved the profit of NCR region by 10% in a year by improved real time operation of units taking advantage of grid frequency and UI rates.

Power trading, development of wholesale market for power. Visited the power exchanges of APX Netherland, Nordpool, PJM, USA , ISO California & NEMMCO Australia and developed the model for setting up of a power exchange in the country for sale and purchase of power on day-ahead basis. The model was accepted by the central regulator M/S CERC. Two power exchanges viz IEX and PXIL are successfully in operation based on this model. IPPs and power sector as a whole is largely benefited by the Power Exchange

Responsible for Power Distribution business initiative of NTPC

Commercial activities related to payment security mechanism, billing of power and realization of dues from State Electricity Boards, customer relationship management, liaisioning with State Governments for NTPC Southern Region having 3500 MW installed capacity

Commercial & Regulatory affairs, interaction with regulator for finalization of tariff norms & tariff, filing of tariff petitions, negotiation of PPAs, follow-up with the states for timely payment of electricity bills.

Head of Contracts & Materials at Talcher Super Thermal Power Station. The responsibility included entire contract and materials function at project site for operation and maintenance of 2X500 MW units including award of site construction contracts, award of operation and maintenance contracts, procurement of spare parts & consumables, materials planning and inventory control, stores Management.

Contracts Administrator for construction of Talcher Super Thermal Power Station (2X500 MW) implemented at a cost of US $ 750 Million. The job included, review of specifications, preparation of requests for proposals, calling of international competitive bids, evaluation of offers, holding pre award discussions, price negotiations with bidders, award of contracts for civil works, plant & equipment, auxiliary system packages, expediting deliveries and construction activities to meet project schedules. Settled many claims and disputes with several contractors during the Gulf War in 1991 using innovative methods and got the project completed with a nominal delay of 3 months.

Contracts Administration for award of civil work, supply , erection, testing & commissioning of plant and equipment for setting up of large capacity Thermal Power Stations through international competitive bidding procedure as per World Bank guidelines, price negotiation, expediting deliveries and construction activities for timely completion, settlement of claims, issue of change orders etc.
