We are a small company so I get to work a lot on a lot of different things.Here's what my day looks like:- Drop kids to school, pick up coffee and start work at my home office- Status calls with our distributed software development team (amazing guys)- Talk to customers and decipher requirements and convert them to features- Go into deep thinking and then design & discuss features with our team leads and sales -- Zoom is our friend- Skip lunch- Talk to customers and explain things that others can't- Help Sales on calls with larger deals- Get an afternoon snack / catch up on news- Contemplate about our technology stack; micro-services are like a candy these days- Go over tech support issues- Fix (aka add more) tickets to the sprint in Jira; so when our developers return in the middle of the night, there are more Story points for them :-)- Try to write a blog post but give up quickly because I have to take my kids to Kumon- Return some emails late into the night

Design Java based enterprise systems to assist the organization in digitizing its publishing/content line. The content was to be made searchable, sellable, and highly available to the paid subscribers as well as the general users who visit the www.law.com site.

Designed and developed a large-scale content search integration project for Bloomberg. The enterprise wide system integration involved meshing up the search technology provided by Verity into the core Bloomberg Terminal software.• Architected, designed, and developed a Java based messaging system to integrate the Bloomberg terminal software with Verity search technology• Worked directly with the client to understand requirements, design new features, and communicate system wide implications, problems, opportunities, and/or pitfalls• Guided development teams on both sides for best possible integration strategies

At Raytheon, I worked on a project to help mitigate the risks involved in developing software components for a new ship system for US Navy. This was by far the most successful engagement I've ever had where I achieved my goals through deligence, initiative, and technical know-how. I was able to successfully integrate a third party software framework called the Tactical Display Framework by Solipsys with the system that Raytheon was developing. The system integrated well and I was able to reduce the risk and pave the way for future software development on this project:• Developed sophisticated geographical situation awareness (GEOSIT) software in Java utilizing a software framework called the Tactical Display Framework (TDF) on Sun Solaris platform • Provided extensive feedback and support to the software development life-cycle phases of detail design (SDD), development, code review, testing, and integration

Through a long and meticulous effort I helped define new standards of software quality and development at Synergy. Synergy gave me the opportunity to work on multiple projects and interact with a number of client organizations within the US Air Force. Developed software in Visual C++ for various projects and clients of the company that included John Deere and General Motors. At RWD I got to work on a CMM Level 3 company where I learned the software skills behind software development such as developing system requirement documents, working with code versioning systems such as SVN, and going through a formal code review process.

Started my first job at SAIC (then Network Solutions in Herndon, VA) which was the first internet registry of domain names. I worked specifically on the defense network where we handled hosts in the .mil domain. Wrote a lot of code in "c" on Unix (Sun OS) on Sparc stations and x-windows. Java was just coming out these days.
