    Leading the DfT Corporate Finance & Property Directorate with a team of over 70 professional advisors. Main responsibilities: • Permanent member of the Departmental Tier 1 and Tier 2 Investment committee (£500m+ and >£100m transactions respectively); Departmental Risk Committee and chair of various sub-boards.• Corporate Finance advisory services (direct advice and as an intelligent client where external advisors are used) to the Department and its ALB's.• Real Estate asset management, advisory and delivery. Including working with our property development company LCR to maximise: i) disposal of surplus land; ii) develop retail redevelopments (e.g. Kings Cross & the ex-Waterloo International Terminal); iii) work with Local Authorities and DfT ALB’s to regenerate and redevelop blighted land around stations (e.g. Manchester Mayfield and Old Oak Common).• Lead on behalf of the Secretary of State as shareholder of Network Rail, HS2, Highways England, LCR and NATs. Having grown the mandate to include East West Rail Ltd & the Department directly operated rail franchises. This team was spun out to be a standalone directorate. • Leading the DfT’s financial interventions during the COVID pandemic. Presenting to Tier 1 investment committee and ExCo.• My team have worked regularly with shareholders (as Government retains a proportion refinancing upside on PFI/PPPs) on a number of refinancing over the years most notably M25 DBFO and Thameslink rolling stock PPP. Both utilised capital market solutions in whole or part.• Department lead on leveraging third part funding sources, to deliver transport infrastructure.• International Trade and Export, including as Board member to Crossrail International Ltd (international consultancy) where we work with UKEF to provide one stop shop support to UK business looking to win overseas work.
