Some of those story ideas counted as HLN Digital’s most popular content in 2015 and 2016.• Coordinated coverage of breaking news events (Jodi Arias, George Zimmerman trials), which led to journalistic success in number of page views and our stories being shared on CNN news wires/Internet.• Garnered high acclaim for writing online story “The Littlest Recruits: Are We Pushing Our Kids,” which focused on the pressure of youth sports.• Collaborated with CNN news crews to write story out of North Carolina about an 11-year-old foster child found shivering and handcuffed to the porch with a dead chicken around his neck. The story, though bizarre, was one of HLN’s most popular stories in 2013, with hundreds of comments on our Facebook page.• Streamlined work processes after discussions with co-workers, which provided better direction/focus. After changes were implemented, co-workers say morale in the department improved significantly.

Responsible for site maintenance with little to no supervision.• Broke news of the 2011 earthquake in Japan as sole online editor for U.S. at CNN.com.• Recognized on daily basis by morning crew at CNN.com for having stories ready for their shift.• Beat online competition on several news stories (i.e. Arrest made in UNC president Eve Carson’s murder, death of Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy’s death). As a result, CNN was able to beat other news agencies with the information. • Helped CNN Wires by writing overnight sports stories (boxing, football, baseball). The weekend online editor for Wires admitted he wasn’t a sports follower and praised my ability to contribute to his department.

Wrote and edited content in a high-pressure, fast-deadline environment. Monitored wires and assignment desk information for story ideas. • Headed online assignments for several big news stories in the area (Kinston, N.C. plant explosion, Michael Peterson & Ann Miller Kontz trials). All of these stories were among the top-viewed stories in site history.• Tasked to create special sections for WRAL.com (i.e. Halloween photos, State Fair page).
