Since my diagnosis in 2003, I have embarked on a journey of healing, inspiration, and victory with not just the HIV diagnosis but the results of the choices I've made form the day I contracted the virus and on. I use my experiences to provide individuals and groups the platforms needed to have the conversations that will change how stigma is addressed. I seek to do this through public speaking, workshop development, social media outreach, program consulting, and one-on-one sessions.I choose to emphasize empowerment and sexual responsibility, development of spiritual aspect and encourage strength and substance in young girls & women by bringing forth resources from developing emPOWERed legacies, a faith-based,social-focused initiative tailored to be the hands and feet of the faith that has sustained me through my diagnosis.My experiences have taken me throughout the state of Florida as one of the featured stories in the mobile art exhibit, “Faces of HIV”, through We Make the Change. I have also lent my expertise to a steering committee of other HIV positive women on the SeeUs: Women Take a Stand on HIV, a global campaign tasked with developing a physician/patient dialogue tool through the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care. My willingness is never limited and my ability to network with organizations like Alabama FOCUS Youth Program, AIDS Action Coalition Huntsville’s Teen Council, National Minority AIDS Council, and Florida Department of Health, demonstrate that I never tires of working towards eliminating hopelessness in the lives of those impacted by HIV/AIDS. I also currently hold membership on the Networking & Sustainability committee of the Florida Community Health Workers Coalition.
