Since graduating from UC Berkeley and winning a Community Justice Fellowship from the Open Society Institute, Kamel has been primed for success in the entertainment and social justice fields. As Co-Founder and Managing Director of Ankh Marketing through the past 19+ years Kamel helped Ankh establish one of the most respected and well known independent urban marketing/event production firms in the SF Bay Area. From working with some of the biggest names in urban music & culture like Dave Chappelle, Black Star, Erykah Badu & Lauryn Hill to catalyzing major events and festivals like Rock the Bells, 420 Hippie Hill, national tours for Red Bull as well as corporate, cultural & educational initiatives with organizations such as SF Human Rights Commission, Youth Speaks and NASA. Kamel has also well established himself in the cannabis industry working with Berner & Cookies Enterprises to establish his latest tech venture “Social Club”. Anchoring the Lifestyle & Events team at Weedmaps, Kamel produced the largest 420 virtual events during the Covid-19 pandemic with Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, ASAP Rocky, The Marley Family & Jhene Aiko among many others. For the past year Kamel has managed the Global Partnerships Division for Weedmaps spearheading numerous media partnerships across the cannabis & entertainment industries. Kamel has marketed and produced over 1000 successful event campaigns and is now focused on creating intellectual properties that integrate culture and community impact initiatives, working to empower people of color from underserved communities in the live entertainment industry. The Tupac Shakur: Wake Me When I’m Free Immersive Exhibition, Projecting Change: Global Partnership with the United Nations & Life is Living Festival are prime examples of such. In 2023, Kamel has worked with the Audible team to produce and partner with legendary artist yasiin bey to release individual pieces for the upcoming Audible Words+Music 2024/25 season. Most recently, Kamel has joined Boumel Management as General Manager and Partner. Boumel boasts and incredible roster of talent including Ms. Lauryn Hill, Fugees, D’Angelo, YG Marley & Goapele.
