I participated in a full-time summer program focused on self-governance, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, workforce development, and initiating positive change. As part of a highly selective 16-person cohort, I help to implement a Community Action Project (CAP) focused on supporting small businesses in San Francisco. Our project culminated in a public event featuring a panel discussion and Q&A with a local small business owner, a manager from the nonprofit SF New Deal, and the Small Business Manager from the SF Chamber of Commerce. This event aimed to educate the community on how to better support small businesses and provide critical resources available to them. I was responsible for social media and advertising, designing promotional materials such as pamphlets, invitations, and flyers, as well as reaching out to local businesses to invite them to participate.Additionally, I completed a two-week internship at the Council Member Ben Bartlett’s office, where I conducted research and analysis of legislative items to support a plan to implement public Wi-Fi across Berkeley.

Engage actively in political processes and leadership development within the Office of Congressman Mike Thompson. Collaborate with U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson, California Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, and their staff to gain insights into governmental functions. Represent Contra Costa County in monthly discussions focused on local governance. Play a pivotal role in planning and executing impactful community initiatives, including our capstone project.
