Alphawood Foundation Chicago is a grant making private foundation working for an equitable, just and humane society. It awards grants to nearly 200 organizations per year, primarily in the areas of advocacy, architecture and preservation, arts, protection of the rights of LGBT citizens and people living with HIV/AIDS, and other human and civil rights.

The Giving Project is a six-month program designed to build community and organize resources to sustain movements for change, not charity, in Chicago. The cohort of nineteen demonstrate the power of cross-class, cross-race, gender-diverse, intergenerational leaders who share a vision of social justice and apply their time, skills, and resources for social change.

As Director of Education and Community Engagement, I developed and oversaw five education and community engagement programs, reaching over 5,000 participants annually. I also identified, established, and nurtured strong collaborative relationships with external partners in and outside of Chicago, including educators, community non-profit organizations, performance venues, and local artists. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I assisted the President & CEO in setting institutional policy, procedures, and long-term strategic planning.

Coordinator of Musical Explorers Local, Link Up Local, Summer Music Educators Workshop and Family Day programs, which reach over 20,000 students in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Greater New York City Area and over 300 teachers annually.Recommend solutions and propose policies regarding workplace equity to executive leadership as co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Committee.

After School Matters (ASM) serves 22,000 youth in Chicago with after school programs usually run or operated in partnership with Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Library and around 200 community based organizations. To be able to offer as many programs as possible, ASM depends on a large network of program providers, organizations, liaisons and instructors, who all need to understand ASM’s requirements and processes. Worked to develop and produce webinars for each type of program stakeholder with the goal of offering training and answering any questions stakeholders may have about ASM’s audit process, the role of a liaison, the Request For Proposal process and other kinds of technical assistance.

As a part of Ravinia's Reach, Teach, Play program, I travel to schools in low-income areas of Lake County, IL to give group instruction to beginning brass, wind and percussion students as well as sectionals for beginning clarinet and saxophone students. I emphasize foundational aspects of breathing, posture, rhythm, note reading and maintaining an efficient embouchure. As an adjunct element of my teaching, I incorporate listening, performance and brainstorming ways to make music more relevant to students who would otherwise have little or no access to such an opportunity.

Worked as an intern at Jatan Sansthan, an Udaipur-based NGO focused on women and youth empowerment. I was a part of the UGER project, which focuses menstrual health and the production of reusable cloth sanitary pads. My team and I conducted field action research in a local slum area focusing on women's knowledge of menstruation. Using data collected from the research, my team and I designed a four-part curriculum to teach women and girls about the menstrual cycle, as well as to challenge the social stigmas surrounding menstruation in India.
