As a Casework Advisor, I provide high quality, outcome focused information, advisory and coaching service to managers from a hand-holding approach to expert advice in upskilling managers to have confidence in taking accountability for and resolving their employee relations/people management issues.Through effective questioning and probing techniques, I ensure that all necessary information required to make a judgement is gathered and recorded in order to ensure the appropriate analysis and diagnosis is given/action taken within NCC and legislative parameters. As a Specialist Resourcing Facilitator, I worked on employability initiatives including apprenticeships and traineeships across different departments of the Council. Apprenticeship agenda was highlighted by the government due to the UK economy and apprenticeships are seen as the route forward as they combine development of both technical knowledge and on-the-job skills. My responsibility was to liaise with the managers and leadership teams to recognise opportunities for apprenticeships across different areas. I met with managers to discuss roles, opportunities and team's responsibilities and advised on creating apprenticeship roles as well as looking at budgeting and possible savings. I was also involved in the recruitment process and supported managers through out the stages of appointing an apprentice.I also worked on the work experience and traineeships programmes which was mainly aimed at disadvantaged groups across the City. My role also involved promotion and marketing of the apprenticeship roles across the City by attending job fairs as well as local schools and academies. I worked towards recognising apprenticeships as an investment in work-based learning. It was important for me to put an emphasis on the need for qualifications to impart skills that are demand-led and designed to meet employer needs.
