Upon becoming a CNA, it would be an understatement to say I knew what I was getting myself into. Working nights and days at an assisted living facility was an emotional, physical, and mental job that soon became my passion. Following protocol to the "T", I also discovered that most of my job required tasks that were not on the daily schedule. Time management was key to completing responsibilities, and still be ready for all unplanned incidents. On more than one occasion, a patient would experience a medical emergency such as a sudden jump in blood pressure. Reacting quickly, I was able to help the patient calmly so that a heart attack or stroke never occurred. These experiences showed me the passion I have for long-term care facilities, and I am now planning to graduate with a bachelor in Healthcare Administration. Although I am mainly focused on completing my education right now rather than seeking employment, I am always open for volunteer opportunities to further my learning experiences.
