Matt's educational background and professional choices surround the software point of contact between people and complex systems. Research in Human-computer interaction (HCI) as a member of the MIT Media Lab, and again at the Engineering Psychology Research Lab at UIUC set the groundwork for a career in user-focused software development. Throughout there is a continuity to support and educate the user, while emphasizing development of reusable software tools and code.Balancing product requirements with user experience, timetable, and constraints, Matt helped develop a wide range of software products and reusable tools for a variety of clients and companies over a 15 year period, incorporated in Massachusetts as Timepieces, Inc. He was also a highly-rated instructor DBA Timepieces, Inc. for Future Media Concepts.The ability to work on a variety of products, with people of varying skills, and his passion for principle-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) design, brought him to EMC as a Principle Software Engineer focusing on UI. Matt became User Experience Design (UXD) lead for EMC's AppSync product. Matt was asked to lead a team to create the first UI for EMC's Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) product, serving as manager of the globally-distributed UI team.Excited for understanding and learning, Matt taught and helped develop software for a wide range of people from primary to high school, college students, and working professionals.As an optimist, realist, and team player; as an instructor, leader, and developer; Matt has demonstrated a range of skills, balancing the factors to help coordinate and produce well-designed software.Immersive technologies like Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality are the next evolution in interactive media, Matt participates in classes, workshops, conferences, company-sponsored events and industry meetings, seeking opportunities in AR and VR, with a focus on Education and Industry.mattkaminski@alum.mit.edu
