Hi There! I’m Katie, a front-end software engineer born and raised in the mountains of western North Carolina. I joined the Marine Corps when I was 18 and spent the next 6 years perfecting my interpersonal communication, teamwork and leadership skills. After leaving the service, I started my education in Integrated Engineering where I discovered my deep love for creating tangible solutions to everyday problems. During this time, I discovered coding and was instantly drawn to it. I enjoyed combining my artistic skills from past hobbies with my drive for technical problem solving to create approachable, user friendly solutions to challenges we face on a daily basis. Eventually, I made the switch to software engineering and could’t be happier with my decision. I chose front-end because I felt that it provided me with the opportunity to combine my wide range of experiences and interests into a seamless point of creation. I love building applications that are aesthetically pleasing while focusing on user empathy as the heart of my design.
