I have partnered with Cisco, Cambium Networks and Amazon AWS, among others, to deliver enterprise-grade solutions across Africa.The most notable project completed so far was for a major infrastructure overhaul for an ISP in the Eastern Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo – DATCO Service Internet (DSI)Below are the key items that were delivered: -• Upgrading of the RF infrastructure from Ubiquiti to carrier-grade equipment purchased from Cambium Networks – Using both licensed and unlicensed bands. This greatly mitigated the effects of RF interference that previously caused frequent network outages• IP & RF planning to allow for future rapid expansion into the untapped residential market. This entailed network segmentation across VLANs and RF Spectrum utilisation and optimisation• Strengthening and hardening the security of the core, backhaul and distribution networks. This completely downgraded the attack profile that previously provided opportunities for attacks that caused either complete network outages or severe service degradation• Introduction of Server Virtualisation services for internal and also for customer leasing. This ensured optimal utilisation of server resources while at the same time delivered significant power consumption savings due to the reduced hardware requirements• Deployment of redundant IT systems to the AWS cloud on the EC2 platform• Deployment of network planning, deployment, monitoring and ticketing systems to enhance the efficiency of internal and customer-facing operations• Acquisition and origination of IP addresses and ASN from AfriNIC• Training of the technical team to enhance their capacities across their various rolesI was also contracted by SkyTrend Networks (STN). I collaborate with various teams to design and deploy internal and customer-end projects and R&D for new technologies and products across the African market segment.Below are some of the key projects that I was involved in: -• I provided senior technical support to various ISPs across the West, East, Central African regions. This mostly entails product development and technical capacity enhancement so as to secure and enhance their growth in their respective markets.• I was tasked with coordinating the logistical and technical aspect of the BBC’s World Service program for 73 partner TV and Radio stations in Nigeria, Somalia.• I worked with various corporate customers in identifying and implementing technical solutions. The objective was to position BSS Africa as the key technology partner of choice to these organizations.

KDN (now Liquid Telecom) is a leading Public Data Network Operator in the region. I was mainly tasked to design and implement the core Server Services infrastructure and to support a team of IP/System technicians. I was also involved in R&D for new technologies and VAS such as virtualization, DPI-based bandwidth management, and QoS optimization.Below are some of the key projects that I collaborated on: -• I was the technical lead for a joint project between KDN, TESPOK (KIXP) and Google in deploying a Google cache. The node was hosted at KDN’s Parkside Telehouse facility, pulling content from Google’s servers and thereafter distributing the content to our customers and those of the other ISP’s via the Kenyan IXP. The project delivered significant upstream bandwidth savings and enhanced greatly the customer experience on all Google High Bandwidth Content websites within the East African region• I collaborated with the IP Solutions & Network Planning teams to plan for and design the IP and related Systems infrastructure that KDN required to take up Submarine fibre international capacity from SEACOM and TEAMs with transit via Level 3 (London) and PCCW (Singapore)• Coordinated various packet network peering activities with other service providers in the region and internationally via the JINX and LINX exchange points. This greatly reduced KDN’s IP transit costs and improved the overall customer experience due to the reduced latencies and network hops• I initiated and delivered a DPI-based bandwidth monitoring system on KDN’s core network. The solution was based on Allot Communications’ SG Sigma platform. The project thereafter provided a much-needed network intelligence and traffic analysis (DPI)• Due to our efforts as the IP Solutions team, and our colleagues from other teams, the total IP transit throughput grew exponentially from ~60Mbits/s to over 3 Gbits/s in slightly over 18 months
