Aided the process development and characterization of T cell manufacturing processes. My main focus was optimizing protocols for automated cell concentration technologies (kSep400) as well as cell processing equipment (Sepax).

• Worked on two teams to support the development and optimization of robust expansion and harvest processes for human iPSCs and bone marrow MSCs using t-flasks, CellSTACKs, and 0.1L, 0.5L, and 3L vertical-wheel bioreactors.• Aided the development and formulation of a low cost, serum-free, and xenogenic-free human iPSC expansion medium for 3D culture.• Collaborated with the accounting and purchasing and receiving departments to make ordering and receiving materials more efficient.• Routinely communicated with vendors’ sales and customer service representatives and found alternative vendors for materials that had prolonged lead times due to COVID-19.• Regularly participated in lab management such as the daily monitoring, maintenance, installation, and performance qualification of lab equipment, cleaning, and waste management.Key achievement: Successfully aided the moving of lab equipment, materials, and office space into a new building and ensured their set-up and validation in a timely manner.

• Successfully designed and executed a 3-part research project to study a novel stem cell and macrophage therapy for adipose regeneration.Key achievement: Awarded 2 training grants (total of $19,000 CAD/yr).• Effectively communicated with my supervisor by regularly submitting technical reports and briefings.• Routinely reviewed and maintained a familiarity with the current and emerging cell therapies, methods for cell processing and delivery, and cell/tissue characterization assays reported in the scientific and technical literature.Key achievement: Successfully applied knowledge from literature to improve experimental design and troubleshoot 3 immunofluorescent stains.• Pro-actively developed and executed lab procedures/SOPs including murine macrophage isolation, culture, and banking, dynamic cell seeding, mouse surgery, and immunofluorescence/immunohistochemical assays.• Demonstrated effective leadership by training new graduate and undergraduate researchers.Key achievement: Handpicked by professor to deliver a guest lecture on tissue engineering (20+ graduate students).• Refined the seeding and attachment of 2 types of pro-regenerative cells onto bioscaffold implants and analyzed the blood vessel formation and immune response in a pre-clinical mouse model.Key achievement: Awarded 2 travel grants ($1100 CAD total) to speak and judge talks at the 2018 Canadian Biomaterials Society Conference.
