After getting my Bachelor of Engg. degree from prestigious NED University of Engineering & Technology (Karachi, Pakistan), I started my professional life as a Telecomm Engineer with Alcatel where I worked on Alcatel's state-of-the-art digital switching system OCB283. After successfully installing/commissioning several such switches in Pakistan, I moved on to TAC department of Alcatel Pakistan, where I supported a big network of 40+ switching systems installed in Karachi (the commercial heart and mega city of Pakistan). I immigrated to Canada in order to pursue higher education (Master's) in 1997. After completing my Masters of Engg from Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada) in Distributed Computing, I joined Nortel Networks (Ottawa, Canada) where I worked on architecture of next generation IP 3G Wireless RAN. In year 2000, I switched my interest from Telecom to Networking industry and joined Cisco Systems (Ottawa, Canada) where I started working on then leading edge/state-of-the-art MPLS technology. For many years, I primed the software design/development and support for MPLS LDP protocol on Cisco's multi-platform and OSs and contributed significantly to architecture and development of MPLS-based L2/L3VPNs. Having worked on Control Plane development for a decade, I switched to development in Platform-independent Dataplane (FIB). Lately, I have been working on Segment Routing (with MPLS dataplane) and currently contributing to standardization and development of SRv6 (Segment Routing with IPv6 dataplane).I've also got rich development experience on many new/innovative features with regards to High Availability, Non-stop routing (NSR), and Non-stop forwarding (NSF) to attain 5 9s (carrier-grade RAS).I have also been involved in standardization of MPLS, SR, and SRv6 and playing an active role in IETF's mpls, pwe3, rtgwg, spring, 6man WGs (see https://datatracker.ietf.org/person/Syed%20Raza)
Listed skills include Mpls, Mpls Vpn, Frr, Ldp, and 9 others.
