Worked as an IT & technology consultant for Saif Healthcare, I was responsible for ERP design and process scoping with an overall goal to achieve a paperless environment with fully integrated health management information system and leading an overall software development team. The project also includes bio-medical equipment integration with the electronic health record management system for efficient data storage and archival. I also assisted other Saif Group companies on information technology at an advisory level to leverage from the cutting edge software/hardware tools.

Primarily involved in IT and MIS due diligence of prospective investee companies of the private equity fund. Working as a two person senior executive team, I get engaged with the CXO level management of companies which have been approved for due diligence and/or investment by the Fund’s investment committee. The scope of due diligence extends across the entire IT organization including network infrastructure, business processes, applications, IT management profiling. As part of performance planning for the company post investment, I lead the process in developing IT plans across all MIS touch pints within the investee company for delivering on agreed business plan and key result areas.

As Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Saif Telecom, I was responsible for the entire application and IT communication network including local and wide area network development and management as well as server side for the ERP systems, CRM systems and corporate communication systems. Alongside IT responsibilities, I also supported new business development in telecommunication projects providing IT development support. I supervised the development of an in-house post paid billing system for Iridium’s GMPCS services in Pakistan, which 4 years running had zero downtime.Other responsibilities included management and implementation of IT policies on a group wide basis covering 25 companies, representation of group companies at international IT events and conferences, preparation of yearly budgets and liaison with regulatory authorities for acquisition of new telecom service licenses. Telecom business development initiatives include setting up an interconnect bureau in Pakistan for settlement of telecom traffic in partnership with Azure UK, development of business plan including technology and vendor assessment for MMDS, WiMax, DSL and value added services on GSM network, e.g Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and vehicle tracking services.

Possess extensive experience of CRM and ERP system implementation and associated RFP development, technical network planning, IT system development and project management. Have business development experience in prospecting mobile cellular operators in the region for provisioning of mobile content and messaging services. I coordinated project deliverables, equipment procurement and logistics for shipment. I also supervised client interface and communication of project deliverables on an on-going basis from start to commercial cutover including change requests. Negotiated agreements with Arabic content providers for database acquisition and supervised development and content loading for IVR based customer content delivery systems. Empowering the executive management to generate project reports using web based three- tiered applications.

Transworld Associates (Pvt) Ltd “TWA”, a JV between Saif Group and Orascom Telecom, operates an under-sea cable network between Karachi – Pakistan and Fujairah – UAE that connects to Etisalat’s global cable network. As part of the core team, I was involved in the technical planning and development of the project that included; the preparation of RFP, proposal evaluation and market study of the system in Pakistan. The cable system is called TWA-1 which was ready for service in Q3 2005.Reporting to the Executive Director – TWA, I assisted in development of presentations and technical details for route planning. I led the effort for development of various proposals for prospective joint venture partners in the TWA-1 Cable System which included leading public and private sector telecommunication entities like Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, National Telecommunication Company and the mobile operators. As part of technical support, I supervised the effort for Desktop Marine study report for the proposed 1200 km optical fiber route between Karachi and Fujairah UAE and provided assistance in the development of Business Plan

Orbit is an Internet and Value Added Services Provider, offering services to corporate and individual customers in Lahore. I was initially responsible for billing system development and implementation, based at the corporate office in Islamabad. My role later evolved into providing business management support at the corporate level with client interface responsibilities for Mobilink mobile content and messaging services, providing management reports to the CEO and liaison with regulatory agencies and equipment and service vendors. I managed the following project at thecompany during my tenure; (i) Development & launch of various B2B and B2C initiatives (ii) SMS Project for Mobilink (iii) Hosting facilities for an Internet Service Provider – only project of its kind in the local market (iv) Web hosting facilities for corporate sector (v) Database hosting and distance learning for business schools in Pakistan

ICCC is the hardware and software developed wing of a large public sector organization involved in various projects in field of instrumentation, hardware and software development. As Senior Engineer, I was responsible for providing support to Principal Engineer in software design and development projects originating within the hardware-engineering group. I supervised the operations of ICCC’s printed circuit boards fabrication facility and carried out requirement assessment for automation and control projects. I initiated several projects at ICCC including Laboratory automation using IEEE 488 general-purpose interface bus and a pilot for developing a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based automation of and industrial unit.

BCI is an IT hardware solution provider having dealerships of leading brands including IBM, Hewlett Packard and Apple Macintosh Computers and peripheral systems with offices across Pakistan.As Field Engineer I was responsible for Installation & Commissioning of Hardware equipment at clients premises, service contracts for maintenance of installed equipment and troubleshooting and repair of computers, monitors & printers. I was involved in various high profile IT hardware solutions including country wide deployment of American Express Wide Area Network (WAN) and establishment of The NEWS newspaper IT infrastructure as a turnkey contract. As Field Engineer on maintenance and client support, I handled British High Commission, USAID and several UN agencies.
