Leading turnarounds, projects & troubleshooting.Emergency Shutdown Replacement Project (2017 ~ 2018)Provided leadership to execute replacement of Emergency Shutdown system of entire plant from Honeywell Safety Manager system to Schneider Triconex ESD. The scope included replacement of 6ea controllers with 3000 ea hardwired and above 10000 ea soft signals in a tight schedule of Plant Turnaround. Old system was fully integrated and project scope included the disintegration of the system as well. This challenging project got executed with zero injury & reworks, time delay and within specified budget. Distributed Control System Replacement Project (2020 ~ 2021)Provided leadership to engineer, procure and execute entire plant DCS replacement. Honeywell DCS system was replacement with Yokogawa Centum VP. The scope of work included over 7,000+ plus hardwired I/Os & 20,000 soft signals. The project was successfully commissioned in record time with zero reworks and safety issues. In recognition of the efforts I was awarded with CEO award in 2022.Urea Plant DCS Replacement (2022)Urea plant was operating on obsolete Baily Infi 90 DCS. The system was completely replaced with Yokogawa Centum VP V6 to overcome obsolescence of the system. Provided leadership to conclude this task with zero reworks and safety incidents.

In this role, following were my major responsibilities; • Ensure compliance of Safety critical & normal PM compliance.• Introduction of new maintenance plans for increased reliability of key Control systems • Spares inventory management, ordering and inspections for projects & routine maintenance.• Key Performance Indicators monitoring & compliance for improvement. Above responsibilities inculcated good understanding of different maintenance philosophies and efficient use of maintenance management systems like Maximo & SAP.eGas Project: Soon after commissioning of plant the organizations faced gas curtailment crises. Management took over a decision to switch over enVen to a low BTU gas. It was a challenge to run a plant on the gas on which it was not designed. A project team was created in which I was the interface from Instrument & Control side.In this role, I had following responsibilities;• Additional field instrument installation & commissioning.• In house logic modifications on ESD & DCS to cater changes in gas composition.• Provision of online set point change from DCS into ESD to accommodate composition changes without tripping the plant. I was awarded Manufacturing Excellence Award on successful project completion. Natural Gas Compressor Installation for Business Sustainability: Caterpillar Taurus 60 Compressor was selected to boost up feed stock to the plant due to declining inlet pressure. Scope included installation of compressor with complete Balance of Plant stand alone PLC with I/Os & commissioning of Solar turbine with associated control system. Project got executed with zero reworks & injury. I was awarded Manufacturing Excellence Award for flawless execution & commissioning of the project.

As Instrument & Controls Project Engineer I was involved in construction & commissioning of enVen1.3 expansion project. This plant is one of the world’s largest single train urea plants & Pakistan’s largest private sector investment costing a billion USD. Assigned key responsibilities included;• ESD & DCS logic/interlocks modifications, testing & commissioning. • Construction & commissioning of Ammonia & carbamate pumps with control systems.• CO2 compressor construction & commissioning with control systems.• Project documentation control for instrumentation installation, plant JBs and cable layout, wiring diagrams and plot plans etc.• Supervision of installation and commissioning activities pertaining to instrumentation and control systems at assigned area.• Compilation of system and sub- system packages that included all relevant instrument list, marked up P&IDs, Plot plans, JB location and cable tray routes for construction activities.Above job responsibilities provided an extensive exposure to various control systems including Honeywell Experion DCS & Safety Manager ESD, Bentley Nevada 3500, Woodward 505E & peak 150, Allen Bradley ControlLogix series & various field instruments. Moreover this assignment warranted managing up to 100 contractor & 10 company employee plus coordination with Saipem engineering team for resolution of engineering issues & design discrepancies.
