Ryn Dillon has over two years of experience in the contemporary art world, where they have curated their BFA thesis, The Black Absurd, and a group exhibition consisting of emerging and mid-career artists at the Stamp Gallery at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, "Love is destructive./I need you." Their thesis draws inspiration from Albert Camus' Absurdism which acknowledges the inherent meaninglessness and chaos of the universe, and studies the influence of various sociopolitical, psychological, religious, and philosophical binaries on the human perception of reality and our longing for “free will.” However, it combats the existential crisis of blackness through prioritizing self-care, mental and spiritual wellness, and rejecting oppressive, monolithic paradigms, interplayed with the state of the contemporary art world.Presently, they are an administrative assistant for Tribe Photo Magazine, a non-profit contemporary art publication specializing in Arab photography. They interned at the David C. Driskell Center for their contemporary exhibitions and community engagement. They are a Teaching Artist for two classes at Art Works Now, a non-profit community-based art school in Hyattsville, Maryland, and was a gallery assistant for a year at Von Ammon Co., a private contemporary art gallery in Georgetown, Washington, DC.
