Over the years, Caterpillar Peterborough have offered a range of Apprenticeship opportunities. In September 2016, they took on Business Apprentices for the first time since 2012. The improved Apprenticeship scheme was structured using the Award Winning Perkins Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship programme that is nationally known for providing high quality training to individuals and a consistent technical talent pipeline in many areas of the Caterpillar business.In addition to the roles of Training Specialist and Training and Communications Analyst I led the Business Apprentices in the first year of their Apprenticeship and supported the creation of their overall programme (3 years). Examples of the tasks I was responsible for but was not limited to included:- Manage all 1st Year Apprentices- Ensure all Apprentices undertake meaningful, well planned and organised placements- Review all Apprentices individually with the Training Provider and local work areas on a regular basis ensuring appropriate training is undertaken leading to on-time Apprenticeship completion dates- Liaise regularly with Training Provider to review standard & quality of training delivery as well as to ensure Perkins expectations are being met- Supported the professional development of the Apprentices

As a Training Specialist, I analyzed and interpreted training requests, training needs and scheduled training for two of Caterpillar’s internal training teams.As our business progressively becomes more lean, the expectations of my job role are constantly changing and my responsibilities expand outside of coordinating the end to end process of many training courses. In addition here below are a few of the tasks I am also responsible for:- The coordination of other types of internal/external training facilitated by internal teams/external organizations.- Internal and external room bookings of the rooms located in The Learning Centre at Perkins- Subject Matter Expert regarding Caterpillar's internal Learning Management System- CPS Level Set Auditing throughout Caterpillar's Peterborough factory- Involvement with CSR/community events- Managing all finance related activities of two internal training teams.- Social media account management- 'Stop, Start, Continue' Workshops- Perkins’s Charity and Sponsorship Committee team member- Business Apprentice Leader (2016 intake)
