As a clinical health psychologist, I help patients manage the psychological and socialaspects that often accompany medical conditions. I specialize in theassessment and care of organ transplant patients.The mind and body are closely connected and issues with one aspect cangreatly impact the other. My philosophy is that any psychosocial issues apatient may experience throughout the transplant process should beaddressed. Before transplant, I evaluate patients in an effort to identify andreduce any psychological and behavioral issues that may act as barriers to asuccessful outcome. I also provide psychological treatment for patients whohave difficulty adjusting to life after a transplant.I work with patients across solid organ transplant including heart, liver, lung,kidney, and with living donors. I also co-chair the Patient and Family AdvisoryCouncil of the Emory Transplant Center, as liaison to the council, which worksto ease the journey of the patient and family navigating the transplantexperience through education, communication, advocacy and collaboration.
