Australian Defence Adviser To Fiji

Working as part of a Whole-of-Government team in support of both the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji and the Department of Defence, Kane was directly responsible for enhancing and solidifying Australia's security relationship with Fiji. Kane achieved this through the coordination and execution of the Defence Cooperation Program in Fiji, involving the provision of partner capacity-building initiatives such as soldier and sailor training and education, military and civil infrastructure development and partnered co-deployments to peacekeeping and humanitarian aid operations globally. Some of Kane's major achievements in this role included the establishment of a regional centre of excellence for peacekeeping and humanitarian training through the Blackrock Peacekeeping Centre, and the initiation of efforts to develop a whole-of-government approach to Fijian maritime security coordination, to leverage the Australian-built Maritime Essential Services Centre.
