Working as part of a Whole-of-Government team in support of both the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji and the Department of Defence, Kane was directly responsible for enhancing and solidifying Australia's security relationship with Fiji. Kane achieved this through the coordination and execution of the Defence Cooperation Program in Fiji, involving the provision of partner capacity-building initiatives such as soldier and sailor training and education, military and civil infrastructure development and partnered co-deployments to peacekeeping and humanitarian aid operations globally. Some of Kane's major achievements in this role included the establishment of a regional centre of excellence for peacekeeping and humanitarian training through the Blackrock Peacekeeping Centre, and the initiation of efforts to develop a whole-of-government approach to Fijian maritime security coordination, to leverage the Australian-built Maritime Essential Services Centre.

Responsible for the daily management of Army's Sustainment Budget in support of capability, across Army's 9 capability programs. The role includes prioritisation and allocation of Army's sustainment funding across all equipment types and capability platforms, including but not limited to Armoured Fighting Vehicles, Helicopters, Watercraft and Weapon systems. The role also includes the management of equipment fleets throughout their Life of Type, including definition and adjustments to basis of provisioning across Army and other supported services, and withdrawal from service on reaching life of type. Also Army's primary point of contact to the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group for delivery of equipment and capability by defence and civilian industry for sustainment of capability and supporting services on behalf of Army.

Responsible for the planning and coordination of all logistic and health support to Army's deployable force for major training exercises and international engagements. This position coordinates the logistic effect for 17 CSS Brigade's eight battalion-size organisations to support the logistic requirements of Army's Combat Brigades. The position is also responsible to develop and execute the training framework and requirements to generate logistic capability within the Brigade, in order to maintain a high readiness deployable organization.
