Visual ArtistKanetaka Ikeda Jun 1979 - PresentI am a visual artist who works primarily with mixed media assemblage sculptures. Besides sculptures, I also create works on paper, installation pieces and paintings. I have been working on the theme of "Tree of Life" for nearly 30 years". I am not interested in mythical or religious aspect of this theme, but as means to explore and visualize my assumptions on the nature of man and on destiny of mankind. To be more specific on this subject, I work with number of sub themes; thus each solo show often differs considerably from one another and is reason behind apparent variety of directions in my oeuvre.

Student Exhibition OrganizerDohto University Feb 2001 - Feb 2008Kitahiroshima (Suburb Of Sapporo), Hokkaido, JapanThough doing work organizing thesis exhibition at a huge Sapporo civic gallery is a requirement for the staff of Dohto university's Faculty of Art and Architecture, seminar exhibitions are voluntary. I organized several sculpture student seminars at a large Kitahiroshima cultural center gallery over the span of 2001-8. Holding sculpture seminar students' exhibition is hard, demanding work, but it motivates students greatly, helps undergraduate students concentrate and prepare for future thesis project, and provide positive atmosphere to the entire sculpture studio.
