About Kannan Sugathan
I've always been fascinated by how things work and would get delighted whenever I could figure out the reasons behind why something behaves the way it does.Even as a child, I opened up my video game console to “fix it”. My dad was furious and I was not allowed near the tools anymore. I also tried to fix our old car by using instructions I read online. I ended up making it much worse and had to push it to the service station. Based off of this desire to "fix things", I decided to follow a career that would reward my inquisitiveness and further encourage me in my pursuit of knowledge. I decided to pursue Mechanical Engineering and did my Bachelor’s at Cochin University. My passion for growth and learning grew and I realized I had a special interest in Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics.After graduating, I decided to move back home and work a couple of years to get an understanding of how my knowledge can be applied in the real world. To combine my favorite fields of Mechanical engineering I decided to work in an HVAC environment and so took the job of MEP engineer in a contracting company.My experiences there Convinced me to go to graduate school and further my knowledge of HVAC and Indoor Environmental Quality.I applied to the Master’s in Mechanical Engineering program at Syracuse University. Here I focused on courses that would help me get a deeper understanding of HVAC, IEQ and Green building designs. To further supplement my knowledge I also got accredited as a LEED Green Assosciate and am certified by ASHRAE for High Energy Building HVAC design (Level 2).
