Responsible for the information gathering, tendering and implementation of a new IT based RMS Grants system. Administer and support of Research Management Systems, data management services as well as analytics and reporting on research activity at UCD. Key Responsibilities:- Oversight of the operation and ongoing development of research management systems (RMS Grants and RMS researcher profiles)- Develop effectual working relationships with key stakeholders such as academic staff, research managers, third party suppliers, IT Services and UCD Library- Define application problems by conferring with users and evaluating procedures and processes- Project manage and lead enhancements & upgrades on research management & reporting systems- Manage the performance of key external suppliers- Improve the classification and integration of research information across all internal and external data sources- Perform specified data analysis and studies as requested- Report on Key Performance Indicators for research activities- Report on compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals for research outputs, grants and modules- Obtain data from external sources via API calls- Provide support and training to end users on reporting and research information systems- Work with key stakeholders at the university to develop research reporting solutions- Run annual schemes such as the Output-Based Research Support Scheme (OBRSS), which is used to disburse research support funds to faculty based on their research outputs, as captured through publications and PhD supervision, following agile project management methods

Researcher within the SIM4BLOCKS project, which was cofounded by H2020 and industry. Investigated the flexibility in the electricity system by developing, implementing and testing innovative services for smaller residential and commercial customers in three European pilot sites (in Germany, Switzerland and Spain). Actions toward achieving the project’s objectives included: quantifying the reliability of bundled flexibility of smaller buildings, combining innovative automated modelling and optimization services with big data analytics to deliver the best real-time actions. Worked closely with other research team members and industry partners to map research themes to a demonstration programme.

Energy Institute

"Scalability of Machine Learning Algorithms Predicting Thermal Loads of Commercial Buildings" Research focused on the development and scalability assessment of data-driven predictive models forecasting the energy demand of commercial buildings, using historical building energy management system data. Three types of predictive models were developed and examined: regression, artificial neural network and support vector machine models, while implementing data mining techniques to identify the most appropriate input variables. This research was co-funded by the Irish Research Council and United Technologies Research Centre (UTRC) under an Enterprise Partnership Scheme Research Scholarship.
