I am a development sector professional with expertise in the areas of gender, human rights, minorities rights, strengthening democracy and parliamentary support programs, peace and interfaith harmony. I am also a human rights activist and have been fighting and writing for the rights of marginalized groups including religious, sectarian, ethnic and linguistic minorities and others in Pakistan. Currently, I am working as a Consultant with UN Women. Prior to this I was Head of Sub-Office UN Women in Sindh. I also worked as as Program Coordinator/Lead with Heinrich Boll Foundation, a German political foundation, in Islamabad.I have remained associated with different organisations ranging from public print media to development sector for the past around seven years as a full time employee and a consultant where I have served my expertise to upgrade the institution from the individual range for professional development. As a consultant, I have been offering my services in the area of editing, translation, IEC material development, writing success stories from field, developing concept papers, proposals, writing research reports on issues pertaining to religious minorities. In academics, I did my Masters in International Relations from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan’s top public sector university, and also Masters in English Literature from National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, another leading university. Acknowledging my efforts in the field of human rights activism, US State Department selected me for a three-week visit to United States for its International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) under the theme “Human Rights and Advocacy”.
